Pay:
$20.00 - $22.00 per hour Job description: Job Summary The Extrusion Process Technician role is hands on that provides advanced support during our extrusion molding processes. This position supports multiple machinery by monitoring the extrusion process for potential issues or failures, troubleshooting production lines, proactively identifying potential manufacturing issues while lines are operating, and working closely with operations and engineering leadership to fix systemic manufacturing challenges. The role is a key driver of efficiency on our production floor by addressing production line issues as they occur and applying an advanced manufacturing engineering skill set that is beyond just an operator level.
ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS
Start, operate, and troubleshoot key production components including extruder hot runner systems, chiller and termolater controls, automated paper wrappers, automated cutters, automated packing prep Proactively identify and address production lines that are at risk of error or incident Provide root cause analysis and advise leadership on preventable systemic manufacturing issues Troubleshoot multiple mechanical elements of plastic extruder production lines Perform initial startup of plastic extruder production lines Proven experience in plastics production, including plastics blow molding, injection molding, or extrusion processes. Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience operating CNC machines, CNC lathes, press brake machines, and robotic systems. Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for automation control and troubleshooting. Ability to perform precise dimensional measurements using measurement tools and instruments for quality control purposes. Knowledge of safety protocols related to industrial equipment operation and materials handling procedures. Basic math skills for setting machine parameters and interpreting measurement data. Warehouse experience or familiarity with materials handling equipment such as forklifts is preferred. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot manufacturing issues efficiently. Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and report on process performance.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 2 years experience with advanced operation of manufacturing equipment (preferred plastics, but not specifically required) including line startup and troubleshooting
