Job Description

Now Hiring a Machine Operator for a Manufacturing Facility in Chambersburg, PA! Opening available on 2nd shift Full-time/long-term Overtime available! Job Description This role supports a busy manufacturing operation by working at various production stations, monitoring product flow, and ensuring that all products are inspected, weighed, packaged, and handled according to quality and safety standards. The position requires successful completion of a tape measure test and offers the opportunity to train on day shift before moving to a regular 2nd shift schedule. Responsibilities Work at different production stations as needed to support changing production requirements. Inspect, weigh, and package products to meet quality and customer specifications. Monitor the flow of product into processing machinery and promptly address irregularities. Assist and help prepare rolls for the machine operator to ensure continuous production. Empty the baler when full and maintain safe operation of related equipment. Verify compliance with quality, safety, and production standards, including adherence to work rules and efficient use of equipment. Report potential downtime, production scrap, and machine quality issues to the appropriate personnel. Maintain a clean and safe work area, including sweeping around the baler and general housekeeping tasks. Use a tape measure accurately to verify dimensions and ensure products meet required measurements. Support general production activities such as packing, shipping, and cycle counts as needed. Essential Skills At least 6 months of prior warehouse or manufacturing experience. Ability to accurately use a tape measure, including passing a required tape measure test. Experience in general production or machine operation within a manufacturing environment. Ability to perform packaging and packing tasks efficiently and safely. Basic understanding of shipping processes and handling of finished goods. Ability to perform cycle counts and follow basic inventory procedures. Strong attention to detail for inspecting products and identifying quality issues. Ability to follow safety procedures and adhere to production and work rules. Physical ability to stand for extended periods, move between stations, and handle materials as required. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience operating or assisting with manufacturing machinery. Background in general labor roles within production or warehouse environments. Comfort working in a fast-paced setting with running machines and changing priorities. Willingness to assist machine operators and support team members across different tasks. Reliability and flexibility to work extended hours and Saturdays when needed. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a manufacturing environment with running machines and active production lines. The facility operates as a growing startup in the Chambersburg, PA area, with a corporate location in Illinois. This is a 2nd shift position, with regular hours of approximately 5:00 p.m. to finish, currently working 10-hour shifts. All employees train on 1st shift for several weeks, typically Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with potential Saturday training hours from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Employees must remain flexible to work 10-hour days, including Saturdays, as production demands. The environment requires consistent adherence to safety practices, awareness around operating machinery, and maintaining a clean and orderly workspace. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chambersburg, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.50 - $24.50/hr.
