Full Job Description Summary/Objective:
The Grinder Operator will operate grinder machinery to perform various tasks, such as breaking down scrap materials for recycling. Essential Functions Adheres to plant and department safety rules, safely operates all equipment, and tools, identifies, and reports safety problems, and corrects when possible. Set up, operate, and tend shearing and grinding machines for the sizing or destruction of web and tray scrap. Correct problems by adjusting controls. Inspecting finished products to ensure there are no contaminants. Record operational information on specified production reports. Clean, lubricate, maintain, and adjust equipment to maintain efficient operation, using air hoses and hand tools. Load and unload material onto the machine for processing. Package material into a SuperSac that is placed on a skid for transport Knowledge and compliance with all SOPs, company, and safety procedures. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Perform other tasks as assigned by management. Competencies Must have attention to detail, including basic math skills with the ability to add and subtract accurately. Proficient in the basic use of a computer to facilitate the entry and completion of work orders. Able to use basic hand tools. Must physically be able to frequently lift to 35 lbs. with frequent bending. Able to multi-task with shifting priorities and multiple interruptions. Performs other related duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Program Responsibilities The Grinder Operator is responsible for the execution of the following programs: Equipment Cleaning Program Start-of-Shift Inspections Breaking down scrap materials for recycling Shipment Inspections Documentation Work Environment The performance of this position requires exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level of the work environment and the job site can be loud.
Physical Demands:
Frequently required to reach overhead, bend/stoop, push/pull, twist, stand, walk, perform repetitive hand movements, and lift and/or carry up to 35 lbs. Frequently required to operate a forklift and hand tools. Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment including but not limited to gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and beard/hair nets. Frequently works in a manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, flames, water, extreme heat and cold, and exposure to vibrations and noise.
