This role is responsible for operating metal shearing equipment to cut steel to precise customer specifications while maintaining accuracy, quality, and a safe working environment. Physical Requirements See (Detect, Determine, Perceive, Identify, Recognize, Judge, Observe, Inspect, Estimate, Assess) Function in the Job Medium/Heavy work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Job Function Key Responsibilities Shear Machine Operation — Set up, operate, and monitor shear equipment to cut steel sheets, plates, or coils to required dimensions. Material Handling — Safely load and unload steel using overhead cranes, forklifts, or other material‑handling equipment. Quality Inspection — Measure and inspect finished pieces to ensure accuracy and compliance with customer specifications. Equipment Setup — Adjust blades, back gauges, and machine settings based on job requirements. Safety Compliance — Follow all company and OSHA safety procedures, including PPE use and safe material‑handling practices. Production Documentation — Record production data, material usage, and job completion details accurately. Machine Maintenance — Perform basic cleaning, lubrication, and routine checks to keep equipment in good working condition. Required Skills Required Skills & Experience Manufacturing or Industrial Experience preferred, especially in metal or steel processing. Mechanical Aptitude — Ability to understand machine functions and make basic adjustments. Blueprint or Measurement Reading — Ability to read tape measures, calipers, and job specifications. Attention to Detail — Ensures cuts are accurate and materials meet quality standards. Physical Capability — Ability to lift, move, and handle steel materials safely.
