Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated Shredder Operator to join our waste management and recycling team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating shredding equipment to process recyclable materials efficiently and safely. This role plays a vital part in ensuring environmentally compliant waste handling, supporting recycling initiatives, and maintaining operational safety standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, experience with heavy equipment operation, and a commitment to safety and environmental stewardship. Duties Operate industrial shredders and material handling equipment to process recyclable materials, ensuring continuous and efficient throughput. Manage loader operation to load materials into shredders, coordinating with other machinery such as excavators, forklifts, and front loader trucks. Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of shredding equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Handle recyclable materials responsibly, adhering to hazardous materials regulations and environmental compliance standards. Utilize roll-off trucks and garbage trucks for transportation of waste materials to designated disposal or recycling sites. Follow safety protocols diligently, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to prevent accidents during outdoor work activities. Assist in landfill management and solid waste handling processes, supporting sanitation efforts and environmental regulations. Perform cleaning duties around the shredder area to maintain a safe and organized work environment. Participate in heavy lifting tasks using appropriate material handling equipment while observing safety procedures. Collaborate with team members to optimize workflow, reduce downtime, and improve overall operational efficiency. Requirements Proven experience operating heavy machinery such as loaders, excavators, forklifts, front loader trucks, roll-off trucks, or garbage trucks. Mechanical knowledge related to shredder systems and material handling equipment. Prior experience in manufacturing, recycling facilities, landfill management, or solid waste operations is highly desirable. Knowledge of safety regulations including hazard communication, PPE use, and environmental compliance standards. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle outdoor work conditions comfortably. Strong understanding of recyclable materials handling and sanitation procedures. Excellent attention to detail with a focus on safety protocol adherence. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Pay:
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
