Job Description
Machine Operator Job Description The Weekend Machine Operator sets up, operates, and maintains production machinery to support a busy manufacturing schedule from Friday to Sunday. You will load and unload parts, prepare materials for cutting and coating, and help ensure products meet quality and production standards. Initial training takes place on a weekday day shift to help you learn the equipment, processes, and safety procedures before transitioning to the weekend schedule. Responsibilities Load and unload parts and products onto pallets in a safe and efficient manner. Prepare parts and products for cutting according to specified measurements, using measuring tools such as a tape measure. Prepare parts and products to be shipped for powder coating, ensuring correct labeling and staging. Operate production machinery and equipment in accordance with established procedures and safety guidelines. Monitor machines during operation and perform basic troubleshooting to resolve minor issues. Maintain machinery by performing routine checks, cleaning, and basic preventive maintenance as directed. Ensure quality standards and processes are followed throughout the facility and report any non-conforming product. Verify that parts meet measurement and blueprint specifications before moving them to the next stage of production. Support general production tasks and assist team members as needed to maintain workflow. Meet production deadlines and daily output goals while maintaining high quality standards. Report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or production problems promptly to a supervisor. Follow all safety policies, housekeeping standards, and production procedures to maintain a clean and organized work area. Essential Skills Previous manufacturing or production experience. Experience with machine operation or general machine operating in a production environment. Ability to use a tape measure accurately to verify measurements. Basic troubleshooting skills for production or CNC-style machinery. Ability to read and follow basic blueprints or production instructions. Comfort working in a mechanical and general production setting. Reliability and strong attendance, especially for weekend shifts. Ability to follow established quality and safety procedures consistently. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in plastic manufacturing or similar manufacturing environments. Background in CNC or automated machinery operation. Familiarity with powder coating processes or preparing products for coating. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision once trained. Willingness to learn new machines, processes, and production techniques. Interest in long-term growth and advancement within a manufacturing organization. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is part of a weekend shift supporting increased production during the busy season, typically June through August. The standard schedule runs Friday through Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with initial training provided Monday through Thursday from 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The facility is a plastic manufacturing environment and is not temperature controlled, so conditions may vary with the seasons. The work involves operating and monitoring production machinery, handling parts and pallets, and using tools such as tape measures and basic mechanical equipment. The environment emphasizes safety, consistent production processes, and teamwork, and employees may have the opportunity to transition to a day shift if internal positions become available and performance and attendance meet expectations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Scranton, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
