Somerset,PA Pay rate starts at 17$/hr Job Description The Machine Operator will work in a machine job shop environment, operating and supporting CNC Mazak machines to produce a wide variety of parts for diverse customers. This role involves setting up, loading, and unloading machines, measuring and cleaning parts, and ensuring that machines and materials function correctly throughout the production process. The position is hands-on and requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality. Responsibilities Operate CNC Mazak machines in a machine job shop environment to produce a variety of parts for different customers. Set up machines according to job specifications, including preparing tools, materials, and machine parameters. Load and unload parts and materials into and out of machines safely and efficiently. Measure parts using tape measures, micrometers, and calipers to verify dimensions and ensure quality standards are met. Clean and deburr parts as needed to maintain product quality and readiness for the next stage of production. Monitor machine performance during operation and ensure proper function of machines and materials. Troubleshoot basic machine and process issues and make adjustments within defined parameters. Read and interpret blueprints to understand part requirements and machining operations. Use hand tools and power tools as needed for assembly, adjustment, or maintenance tasks related to machine operation. Support laser-related operations as needed in connection with the machining process. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with shop standards. Collaborate with team members and follow instructions to meet production schedules and quality expectations. Essential Skills Experience with machine operation in a shop or similar environment. Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with machinery and moving parts. Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively. Proficiency with measuring tools such as tape measures, micrometers, and calipers for checking quality and measuring parts. Ability to load, unload, and set up machines for production runs. Capability to read and interpret blueprints to understand part specifications. Basic troubleshooting skills for machine and process issues. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts. Willingness to learn CNC Mazak machine operation and follow training and procedures. Positive attitude and reliability, with readiness to be trained when basic skills are present. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment is beneficial. Experience using laser equipment in an industrial or fabrication setting is a plus. Exposure to farming or farm hand work that demonstrates mechanical aptitude and hands-on skills is advantageous. No additional formal qualifications required; training is provided for candidates with the right basic skills and attitude. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Somerset, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
