Job Description

Overview Consider joining the Pennex family as a Machine Operator at our York, PA location. The Machine Operator sets up and operates fabricating machines such as brake presses and punch presses that cut, shape, and bend aluminum pieces by operating and adjusting equipment to meet customer specifications and requirements. This is a part time position with the hours of 5:30pm to 11:00pm four days a week.
Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Receives press assignments and job duties from shop foreman or supervisor Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements Sets stop of guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template Positions workpiece against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade Pushes button or depresses pedal to activate machine Observes machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction Measures workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation Gets first and last pieces of fabricated material inspected for quality purposes Packs completed pieces for shipment per customer specifications Completes all paperwork associated with fabricated pieces Weighs scrap material before depositing same in appropriate containers Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling the machine, dies, or workpieces Assists other machine operators to set up machines, and stack, mark, and pack finished work pieces Other duties as assigned
Qualifications Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Education High School diploma or equivalent will be accepted Experience 1 to 3 years of machine operation in a warehouse or manufacturing environment Qualifications Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Ability to read blueprints Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance Ability to apply understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations Physical Demands The employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and use hands. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Work Environment The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
