Job Title:
Palletizer Operator Job Description The Palletizer Operator supports daily plant production by overseeing palletizing machinery and related equipment to safely produce high-quality aerosol cans. This role focuses on maintaining smooth line operations, clearing equipment jams, performing quality checks, and keeping the work area clean and organized while consistently following safety and standard operating procedures. Responsibilities Operate palletizer equipment, conveyor systems, wrappers, and banders to support continuous production of aerosol cans. Work in a consistently safe manner and wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. Identify and report any unsafe conditions to the appropriate shift leadership promptly. Recognize can defects and ensure that all products meet established quality standards. Perform all required quality checks and follow standard operating procedures accurately and in a timely manner. Clear jams from palletizer equipment, conveyor systems, wrappers, or banders to prevent extended line downtime. Use basic line controls to start, stop, and adjust equipment as needed to maintain efficient operations. Accurately complete all required production and quality paperwork. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the shift. Apply basic mechanical abilities and understanding of industrial equipment to support equipment operation and minor troubleshooting. Use basic math and measurement skills as needed for production and quality tasks. Follow all safety policies and procedures, including PPE requirements and quality guidelines. Work overtime as required, including weekends and off-shifts, to meet production needs. Essential Skills Experience working in a manufacturing setting. High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Basic math and measurement skills. Excellent verbal and written communication and comprehension skills. Basic understanding of industrial equipment and production machinery. Ability to solve practical problems in a fast-paced production environment. Basic mechanical abilities to support equipment operation and minor adjustments. Ability to recognize product defects and maintain high quality standards. Commitment to safety, including understanding PPE requirements and compliance with safety policies and procedures. Willingness to work overtime, including weekends and off-shifts, as required by production demands. Additional Skills & Qualifications Background in general labor and palletizing work. Ability to operate palletizer equipment, conveyor systems, wrappers, and banders. Comfort working with line controls and basic production control systems. Strong attention to detail when completing production and quality paperwork. Ability to maintain a clean and orderly work area throughout the shift. Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing plant environment focused on aerosol can production. Operations currently follow a 5-day, 8-hour shift schedule Monday through Friday. The first shift currently runs from 8:00 a.m. to mid-afternoon, with plans to adjust to a 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. schedule within the next two months. A second shift also operates on a 5/8 schedule from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with one palletizer operator assigned to each shift. The work involves standing for extended periods, working around industrial equipment such as palletizers, conveyor systems, wrappers, and banders, and performing general labor tasks. Proper PPE is required, and employees are expected to follow all safety and quality procedures while maintaining a clean and orderly work area. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Vernon Hills, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
