We are looking for a dependable CDL Driver & Licensed Machine Operator to support our Design/Build and Maintenance divisions by safely transporting materials, equipment, machines, trailers, jobsite supplies, and operating machines on jobsites. Position Summary This role is responsible for the complete delivery process, including vehicle inspections, load securement, legal operation, transportation, unloading, documentation, and communication. As well as operating excavation machines on jobsites. The ideal candidate is safety-minded, dependable, organized, and capable of working independently. You will help keep crews productive by making sure they receive the right materials and equipment, when and where they need them, and performing tasks in machines to support completion of the job. This is a specialist hauling and machine operation role, not a Crew Leader position. Responsibilities Safely operate Class A or Class B trucks, qualifying truck-trailer combinations, and standard excavation heavy machinery. Transport materials, equipment, machines, tools, plants, soil, mulch, aggregates, attachments, and jobsite supplies. Deliver materials and equipment between company yards, vendors, shops, and jobsites. Operate heavy machinery to complete tasks on jobsites. Select the appropriate truck, trailer, route, machine, and delivery approach for each assignment. Complete pre-trip, in-route, and post-trip inspections. Inspect lights, tires, brakes, fluids, trailer condition, securement equipment, and visible safety concerns. Secure all loads properly, including machines, materials, attachments, and equipment. Confirm weight distribution, tie-downs, trailer setup, and load limits before departure. Load and unload materials and equipment only when trained and authorized. Use sound judgment to protect people, property, vehicles, trailers, equipment, and jobsite conditions. Keep assigned trucks, trailers, and equipment clean, organized, and ready for use. Report damage, maintenance needs, unsafe conditions, or compliance concerns promptly. Coordinate with Field Managers, yard personnel, mechanics, vendors, and field crews. Confirm delivery timing, site access, unloading requirements, and changing site conditions. Maintain delivery, inspection, fuel, maintenance, and other required records. Use a mobile phone, GPS, and company communication systems for coordination and reporting. Adjust to seasonal changes in weather, road conditions, material demand, and production volume. Stop work and escalate when a load, route, vehicle, trailer, site, or weather condition creates unacceptable risk. Follow Aquidneck Landworks standards for driving, inspections, repairs, reporting, and communication. Required Qualifications Valid Class A or Class B CDL Valid Rhode Island hoisting license Legal ability to operate assigned vehicles under Rhode Island and applicable federal requirements Strong driving record and insurability Working knowledge of backing, trailer handling, load securement, and transport safety Ability to work independently with limited supervision Ability to communicate clearly with managers, vendors, mechanics, and field teams Ability to use a phone or data-enabled device for communication, photos, GPS, and reporting Ability to perform physical tasks related to inspecting, securing, loading, and unloading equipment Willingness to maintain clean, safe, and organized vehicles and equipment Preferred Experience Experience hauling landscape materials, construction materials, equipment, or machinery Experience with dump trucks, equipment trailers, or truck-trailer combinations Experience loading and unloading skid steers, excavators, attachments, or similar equipment Familiarity with jobsite access, material delivery, and field production environments. Class A CDL and experience with heavier truck-trailer combinations

Compensation Class B CDL:

$23•30 per hour

Class A CDL:

$30•40 per hour Pay based on experience, qualifications, driving record, and demonstrated ability
