Mechanical Operator Job Description The Mechanical Operator sets up, operates, and monitors packaging and production equipment on a designated manufacturing line. This role focuses on operating machinery such as cutters, presses, and packaging equipment, performing changeovers and basic mechanical adjustments, and supporting maintenance activities. The Mechanical Operator ensures batches run efficiently and safely from start to finish, while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, quality, and documentation. Responsibilities Operate and monitor packaging and production equipment, including cutters, presses, and other high-speed packaging machinery, throughout the batch process. Perform machine changeovers, setups, and mechanical adjustments to support efficient production and product changeovers. Continuously observe equipment performance and product quality during each batch to identify and report issues promptly. Package approved batches and accurately label all finished product containers. Stock supplies and label containers of raw materials as needed to support ongoing production. Clean, sanitize, and inspect tools, pumps, tanks, pipelines, and other production equipment according to established procedures. Complete end-of-day procedures, including restocking raw materials, performing housekeeping tasks, and controlling and documenting production waste. Essential Skills Proven experience as a machine operator in a manufacturing environment. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform changeovers, set up machines, and reset equipment. Strong attention to detail for monitoring equipment, labeling products, and documenting waste. Ability to understand and follow safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and chemical handling guidelines. Capability to perform some heavy lifting and remain on feet for the duration of the shift. Why Work Here? Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.62 - $19.62/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
