Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Extruder Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating extrusion machinery to produce high-quality plastic products, ensuring efficient production processes, and maintaining safety and quality standards. This role requires a strong understanding of plastics extrusion, mechanical systems, and precision measurement tools, with the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Duties Set up, operate, and monitor plastics extrusion equipment to produce consistent product quality. Adjust machine settings based on specifications and quality inspection feedback. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on extruders and related machinery. Conduct quality inspections using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments to ensure product specifications are met. Handle materials safely using materials handling equipment such as forklifts when necessary. Maintain a clean and organized work area adhering to safety protocols. Collaborate with team members on fabrication, assembly, and other manufacturing processes as needed. Assist with setup and operation of auxiliary equipment such as CNC lathes, press brake machines, or plastics injection molding machines if required. Follow lean manufacturing principles to optimize production efficiency and minimize waste. Document production data accurately for process improvement and quality control purposes. Requirements Proven experience in plastics extrusion or related manufacturing processes preferred. Mechanical knowledge of manufacturing equipment including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), CNC machines, CNC lathes, press brake machines, and fabrication tools. Ability to operate hand tools and precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and other measurement devices. Familiarity with plastics blow molding, injection molding, machining, and materials handling techniques. Experience with warehouse operations or warehouse experience is a plus. Basic math skills necessary for measurements and process adjustments. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to promote efficiency. Ability to work safely around industrial machinery including forklift operation if certified or willing to be trained. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues promptly. Excellent attention to detail with a focus on quality inspection standards.
