PALLETIZER TECHNICIAN

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Operates console that controls automatic palletizing equipment to sort, transfer, and stack on pallets containers of finished products. Reads production and delivery schedules and stacking pattern to determine sorting and transfer procedures, arrangement of packages on pallet, and destination of loaded pallet. Observes packages moving along conveyors to identify packages and to detect defective packaging. Turns selector switch on palletizer to control stacking arrangement of packages on pallet and to transfer loaded pallet to storage or delivery platform. Supplies loading equipment with empty pallets. Stops equipment to clear jams. Informs palletizer mechanic and/or supervisor of equipment malfunction. Keep record of production, equipment performance and line clearances. Required to help report production. Summary of Job Function (not all encompassing) 1. Paperwork certified. 2. Work in a safe manner following all safety SOP 3. Follow line clearance instruction (Aaron Roe is creating instructions) 4. Will be monitoring the infeed conveyors form the palletizer catwalk, primary focus will be at the top portion of the palletizer unit (open flaps, sideways cases etc.…). 5. Rework and put good cases back on the line, verifying it is the current batch running. 6.
If a case is damaged:
sort out and return the good bottles to the appropriate line and dispose of the damaged bottles (mouth wash will be poured up and alcohol returned for pour up) 7. Communicate with the packaging supervisors or line leads about upcoming change overs, to include which type of pallet (PECO or GMA) and pallet pattern. 8. Watch for change over cans and ensure the palletizer is purged of the current label and a proper line clearance is completed and documented. No signs of the previous run is to remain on the palletizer after line clearance (bottles, labels, shipping cases, etc.). 9. Assist with the cleanliness of the area (dusting, sweeping, wiping down, etc.). 10. Must be forklift certified and able to load pallets into the palletizer and change pallets if a change is required. 11. Reset minor jams and miscounts. Change programs for different product.

Attendance:
Present for work when scheduled is a mandatory function. Work hours may extend pass normal business hours based on the workload of the department.

Physical Demands:
This job requires that weight be lifted, or force be exerted. Up to 10 lbs over 2/3 of time. Up to 25 lbs between 1/3 to 2/3 of time. Up to 50 lbs under 1/3 of time.
Visual Acuity:
Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less). Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more). Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors)
Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions:
Wet or humid conditions (non-weather) under 1/3 of time. Vibration 1/3 to 2/3 of time. Work near moving mechanical parts over 2/3 of time. Work in high, precarious places 1/3 to 2/3 of time.
Qualifications Knowledge:
Basic Data Entry:
Logging into an automated system to enter new data in predefined format (one or two screens or predefined spreadsheets). Word processing of memos, letters, and routine narrative reports is included.
Experience:
Level 3: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to nine months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. License(s)/Certification(s)
