Machine Operator (First Shift) Job Description This role operates compression mold machines to produce rubber and plastic rings and seals used in the oil and gas industry. You will measure and prepare powders and materials, set up equipment, and run hydraulic presses to mold rubber preforms into precise, high-quality seals while maintaining safety, quality, and production standards. Responsibilities Set up compression mold machines and operate hydraulic presses to mold rubber preforms into rings and seals according to specifications. Measure and prepare powders and materials prior to setup, ensuring proper consistency and correct quantities for each production run. Turn preforms, stack preforms, and straighten preforms and parts while they are in the press to ensure consistent molding and quality. Load press platens uniformly with molds of equal height to maintain safe and accurate press operation. Handle molds carefully so critical machined surfaces are not dented or galled, and immediately report any damage to molds or machines to the appropriate leader. Verify that preforms fit molds properly before and during production, and report any discrepancies or nonconforming preforms to the Crew Lead. Ensure proper engagement of molds when the press closes and pressure is applied, paying particular attention when molds are stacked to prevent sliding or misalignment. Follow production, safety, and quality procedures consistently while working in a manufacturing shop environment. Use hand tools and other basic equipment as required to support machine operation and general production tasks.
