The purpose of the Laser Table operator is to operate one or more burning machines to burn plate in various shapes. Planning and performing operations which requires set-ups with a high degree of accuracy; installing burning tips and adjusting guides, stops, working tables and other controls to handle the size of stock to be processed; determine proper pressures, feeds, speeds, tips, and operating sequence. Essential Functions Loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site Reads work order(s) and follows oral instructions from Department Supervisors for certain materials or containers to be moved Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand Loads and unloads materials from delivery vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit, using hand tools Conveys materials to or from storage or work sites to designated area, using a hand truck, forklift, or another device Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination, using hand-operated crane or hoist, or signals crane or hoisting operators to move a load to a destination when needed Lifts heavy objects by hand or using power hoist, and cleans work area, machines, and equipment, using a broom, rags, and cleaning compounds, to assist machine operators Labels all material as required, including traceable items such as heat numbers, CE(v)'s, etc. Assists receiving and other team members with loading and unloading full plate sheets Maintains part numbers and labels on all material racks to assist with inventory tracking Operates manufacturing equipment such as press, forming rolls, bandsaw, and burning table Accurately locate and identify stock for storage and retrieval Operates and adjusts machinery and equipment for full utilization Processes material to minimize waste and drops Adjusts machinery for full utilization of material with minimal waste Properly identifies and processes the paperwork necessary for material handling Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
Qualifications Education/Certification/Licensure:
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Job Knowledge:
Demonstrate knowledge of various metal grades, thicknesses, sizes, and basic welding and cutting processes.
Preferred:
Ability to review and understand basic concepts from material list and/or drawings.
