Job Description
Position Summary GNB Global is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Tube Laser Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining tube laser cutting equipment to produce high-quality steel components used in structural steel, fabric-tension building systems, and mission-critical projects. The ideal candidate will have experience reading shop drawings, working with steel materials, and operating CNC-controlled manufacturing equipment in a fast-paced production environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Set up and operate tube laser cutting machines to process steel tubing, pipe, and structural members. Load raw materials and unload finished components safely and efficiently. Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, cut lists, and work orders. Verify dimensions, revisions, and tolerances using measuring tools including tape measures, calipers, and squares. Perform quality inspections to ensure parts meet specifications and customer requirements. Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as needed to maintain quality and productivity. Conduct daily machine inspections and basic preventative maintenance. Identify material defects, machine issues, and quality concerns and report them to supervision. Maintain accurate production records and material traceability documentation. Assist with material handling using forklifts, overhead cranes, and other shop equipment when required. Keep work areas clean and organized in accordance with GNB's housekeeping and safety standards. Follow all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and operating procedures. Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste. Qualifications Required High school diploma or GED. Minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience in a steel fabrication environment. Experience operating CNC equipment, tube lasers, plasma tables, or similar machinery. Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and measuring devices. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a manufacturing environment. Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Understanding of steel fabrication processes and material types. Knowledge of machine offsets, tooling, and basic CNC controls. Ability to troubleshoot minor machine and production issues. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards. Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and moving equipment. Ability to wear required PPE including safety glasses, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, gloves, and other protective equipment.
