Full-Time Job Description HireWorks is seeking an experienced Metal Slitter Operator for a manufacturing facility in San Antonio, TX. This position works with steel and sheet metal materials used in the production of metal roofing products and requires previous experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of manufacturing experience with machine operation, metal processing, or similar production equipment. Overhead crane experience is required. Experience with sheet metal fabrication, welding, forklifts, cherry pickers, and other industrial equipment is highly preferred. Responsibilities Operate slitting and other production machinery used to process steel and sheet metal Set up, monitor, and adjust equipment to maintain accurate production Load, position, and move metal coils and materials using an overhead crane Monitor materials during the slitting process for proper alignment, dimensions, and quality Inspect finished materials using measuring instruments to verify accuracy and identify defects Read and interpret production specifications, technical drawings, and blueprints Assist with coil changes, material staging, and production setup Perform general labor and material handling duties throughout the facility Operate forklifts, cherry pickers, and other industrial equipment as needed Assist with metal fabrication, welding, and assembly processes as needed Maintain a clean and organized production area Follow established production and safety procedures Requirements 2+ years of manufacturing or industrial experience Previous machine operating experience Overhead crane experience required Strong mechanical knowledge and aptitude Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and productionspecifications Knowledge of shop math and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) is highly preferred Experience working with steel, sheet metal, coils, or other heavy materials Experience with sheet metal fabrication processes, including forming machines, stamping presses, press brakes, welding, or assembly, is highly preferred Experience using measuring instruments for quality inspection and precision measurement Metal slitting, coil processing, or roll forming experience is highly preferred Forklift and/or cherry picker experience preferred Ability to safely work around heavy machinery and metal materials Ability to stand, bend, lift, push, and pull throughout the shift Must be dependable and able to work the full scheduled shift Must be able to pass a drug test Preferred Experience Metal slitting and coil processing Sheet metal fabrication Roll forming Stamping and press brake operation Welding and assembly Blueprint and technical drawing interpretation Precision measuring instruments Overhead crane operation Forklift and cherry picker operation Steel or metal manufacturing
