Job Description

Job Title:
CNC Machine Operator - Metal Fabrication Job Description This role involves operating specialized CNC and fabrication equipment to bend and cut metal components for large window and glass units. You will set up and run a variety of machines, adjust and change programs for each production run, and ensure precise measurements and quality throughout the manufacturing process. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret digital drawings while working in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Operate CNC equipment specific to metal fabrication for large window and glass unit components, including setup, program changes, and adjustments for each production run. Manipulate CNC control panels and use computer-based programs to load, modify, and troubleshoot machine programs as needed. Operate saws, brake presses, and other specialized metal bending equipment, making manual adjustments and reprogramming for non-repetitive parts. Interpret and work from digital 3D drawings, blueprints, and other technical documentation to ensure accurate fabrication. Use measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and other precision instruments to verify dimensions during machine operation and post-production inspection. Perform visual inspections and quality checks on parts to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards. Meet daily and overall production goals for the assigned department while maintaining high quality and safety standards. Use hoists and overhead cranes to move large sheet metal or glass materials, and participate in team lifts for heavy or awkward objects. Monitor machines during operation, identify issues, and make necessary adjustments to maintain optimal performance and product quality. Support process management on assigned machines, including setup, running, and basic maintenance tasks within scope of role. Cross-train and learn to run multiple pieces of equipment over time, demonstrating a willingness to expand skills and responsibilities. Assist with material handling, cleaning, and housekeeping tasks when materials or production are delayed, supporting overall workflow in the facility. Collaborate with team members in a highly detailed, team-focused environment where each person's contribution is critical to the final product. Adhere to all safety procedures, including proper use of equipment, hoists, and personal protective equipment, in a loud, busy manufacturing environment. Maintain reliable attendance and adhere to the company's attendance policies to support on-time production and shipping deadlines. Essential Skills 1-2 years of experience operating CNC equipment in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment, or equivalent hands-on machine operating experience. 1-2 years of metal fabrication experience, including working with sheet metal and fabrication processes. Experience as a CNC operator with responsibility for setup, operation, and quality control/measurement of parts. Proficiency with CNC machine operation, CNC setup, CNC mills, and CNC lathes. Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools, drills, hand tools, and industrial machinery. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and digital 3D drawings for fabrication work. Proficient use of measurement tools, including tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and other precision instruments. Extensive measuring experience and strong attention to detail during machine operation and post-production inspection. Experience with visual inspection and basic quality control practices in a manufacturing environment. Ability to use overhead cranes and hoists safely to move large or heavy materials. Comfort working in a busy manufacturing process environment with multiple machines and production lines. Demonstrated ability to run non-repetitive parts that require frequent machine changes, reprogramming, and manual adjustments. Strong computer skills and ability to work with computer-based CNC programs and controls. Proven flexibility in previous roles, including willingness to perform various tasks wherever needed in the production process. Consistent track record of setting up, running, and managing one's own machines with a focus on quality and efficiency. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chester, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
