Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented 2nd Shift Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating a variety of advanced machinery to produce high-quality car parts effeciently and safely. Your expertise in machinery, technical skills, and commitment to precision will contribute directly to our production goals. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment in a dynamic manufacturing environment, ensuring products meet strict quality standards while maintaining optimal productivity. Duties 1. Reviews machine set-up instructions (production operating procedures, i.e., "POP") to determine machine set-up procedure, machining sequence and quality specifications for finished machined parts 2. Sets-up machine in accordance with scheduled customer order 3. Attaches fixture to machine bed and secures work piece in fixture according to set-up instructions (i.e., safely and securely clamps and unclamps equipment parts) 4. Assembles cutting tools in tool holders and positions tool holders in machine spindles as specified (or inserts assembled cutting tools in specified machine magazine) according to set-up instructions 5. Changes cutting tools and location of work piece during machining process, as specified in set-up instructions 6. Removes raw material from boxes in machine staging area and places raw material on conveyor (or in fixture), filling hoppers with raw material 7. Manipulates controls and enters numerical commands to index cutting tool to specified set-point and to start machine 8. Visually observes and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions / deviations such as worn or damaged cutting tools 9. Adjusts machine, and/or clears jam according to safety procedure, when automatic programming or machine malfunctions 10. Performs basic machine maintenance, as needed 11. Uses precision measuring devices and identifies any defects in precision measuring devices; calls defects to attention of Team Leader for corrective action 12. Notifies Team Leader in a timely manner of deviations from standard quality production 13. Measures and inspects finished parts to ensure conformance to quality specifications (i.e., "patrol checks" in-process at tool change or off-set adjustment and of finished parts) 14. Segregates scrap product and prepares finished goods which meet customer specifications for shipment; moving such product to the appropriate staging location for Material Handler or Team Leader to transfer to shipping department 15. Accurately completes documentation to reflect quantity and quality of machined parts and machine malfunctions and/or downtime encountered throughout shift 16. Maintains safe, clean and well-organized work environment throughout the shift 17. Communicates with Team Leader to optimize communication with on-coming shift 18. Performs additional duties as may be assigned by Team Leader and/or Production Management team
Pay:
$18.00 - $19.50 per hour
