Yes Position Summary:
The Waterjet Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of CNC waterjet cutting equipment within a production environment. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot equipment while maintaining high production and quality standards. The operator will be responsible for reviewing job packets, loading and verifying cutting programs, preparing and aligning materials, monitoring machine performance during cutting operations, and performing quality inspections of finished parts. This role also includes routine machine maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and supporting general shop operations. This position requires the ability to safely lift 50-70 pounds and obtain an in-house forklift certification . The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong teamwork, reliability, and the ability to manage tasks independently in a fast-paced fabrication environment. Required Skills, Knowledge & Experience Strong mechanical aptitude Ability to work effectively within a team environment Self-motivated and capable of working independently Strong attention to detail Ability to work under production schedules and deadlines Basic understanding of CNC machine operation and shop safety practices Driving Requirements Must be 21 years of age or older Must possess a valid driver's license Must have a clean motor vehicle record Must be comfortable operating a company box truck for local pickups and deliveries Responsible for safe transportation of materials, parts, and shop supplies as required
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Machine Operation Open and close the waterjet production shop as required Prepare machines for daily production cutting Inspect pumps, intensifiers, garnet hoppers, and related components Load cutting programs and verify program parameters Verify machine settings, including offsets, dwells, and nozzle pin gauges Set up and align material on the machine bed Index material and run cutting programs Monitor cutting operations and identify potential issues during operation Setup & Production Review and verify daily project job packets Coordinate material staging with Shipping & Receiving Build jigs or fixturing as required for production Obtain setup approval (buy-off) prior to running production parts Perform first-part inspections when required Record setup times and cutting times for job tracking Post-Processing & Quality Control Unload completed parts and finished projects Deburr and de-tab parts as required Perform quality inspections on finished parts Report completion and production status of finished jobs Equipment Operation Operate overhead crane safely when handling materials Operate forklift (certification provided in-house) Assist with material movement and shop logistics Maintenance & Shop Suppor t Troubleshoot machine malfunctions Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment Conduct emergency maintenance or repairs when necessary Maintain shop organization and cleanliness Support general shop housekeeping and operational needs Employee Required Items Steel/ Safety Toe Boots Appropriate Shop Attire Individual specific PPE such as prescription safety glasses, braces, etc. • This job description is not intended to be inclusive, only to capture the general work requirement
