This role will be a key team member in workflow areas preparing, packaging, and labeling medications for patients across our client landscape, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
Packaging:
Accurately fill and package medications using automated and manual packaging systems (e.g., blister cards, multi-dose strip packaging). Ensure all medications are labeled correctly according to prescription and facility requirements. Verify packaging accuracy against medication orders and resolve discrepancies promptly. Clean and maintain packaging equipment and workstations to ensure quality control and prevent cross-contamination.
Medication Preparation:
Manage and prepare medications as needed under pharmacist supervision. Ensure proper storage and handling of medications, including refrigerated and controlled substances.
Delivery Coordination:
Work closely with pharmacists, other technicians, and delivery personnel to ensure timely medication delivery to LTC facilities. Prepare medication orders for transport and confirm delivery instructions.
Inventory Management:
Maintain stock levels by checking inventory and placing orders as needed. Manage returns, expired medications, and controlled substance logs.
Regulatory Compliance:
Follow state and federal regulations including HIPAA and DEA guidelines. Maintain accurate records of all medications prepared and dispensed. Abide by standards set by CMS to prevent fraud, waste and abuse.
Customer Service:
Communicate with facility staff, nurses, and other healthcare providers. Address inquiries regarding medication orders, availability, or delivery status.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with pharmacists and fellow technicians to ensure efficient pharmacy workflow. Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor of Arts/Science preferred, not required High school diploma or equivalent required.
Licensure:
Active and unrestricted technician license in Washington state Active CPhT credential by PTCB, not required
Experience:
Preferred 1-2 years of experience in long-term care, geriatrics, or institutional pharmacy. Excellent clinical skills Experience with the FrameworkLTC and FrameworkECM software platform is ideal Understanding of billing, processing and delivering LTC prescriptions
Skills:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Strong work ethic, critical thinking and problem solving Excellent organizational and time management skills. Proficient in pharmacy software and computer systems. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
