Job Title:
Machine Operator - 2nd Shift Job Description This role operates specialized production machinery and selected open-end die-cut machines to produce high-quality envelopes. You will follow detailed work orders, monitor product quality, and maintain accurate production counts while keeping pace with machine speed. The position involves hands-on machine operation, basic troubleshooting, and routine cleaning to support a safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing process. Responsibilities Operate all Special Operations machinery and selected open-end die-cut machines safely and efficiently. Review work orders to understand job specifications and verify samples before and during production. Inspect product quality continuously in accordance with established quality guidelines. Maintain accurate counts of envelopes for boxes, cartons, and skids, ensuring correct quantities are packed and recorded. Pack envelopes uniformly and neatly while keeping up with machine speed and production targets. Load die-cut paper stacks onto the machine feed and ensure proper alignment and operation. Monitor orders throughout production to verify accurate labeling, printing, and packaging of all products. Assist in clearing paper jams and perform basic troubleshooting to minimize downtime. Support scheduled preventative maintenance activities as directed. Complete all required paperwork accurately to record labor, time, and production quantities. Perform machine wash-ups and other cleaning duties to maintain a clean and safe work area. Multi-task effectively by reading customer orders, following documentation requirements, and monitoring machine performance simultaneously. Use hand tools and measuring tools, such as tape measures, to perform setup, checks, and adjustments as needed. Essential Skills At least 1 year of recent machine operating experience in a production environment. Demonstrated ability to multi-task as a machine operator, including reading customer orders and performing documentation tasks while running equipment. At least 1 year of recent experience using basic math, conversions, and tape measures in a work setting. Experience operating production machinery with attention to safety and quality. Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and assist with unjamming machines. Capability to perform quality checks during production to ensure products meet specifications. Comfort using hand tools and measuring tools such as tape measures. Ability to read English to understand work orders, labels, and documentation. Additional Skills & Qualifications Machine operating experience in the paper or plastics industry is highly preferred. Recent experience performing quality checks in a manufacturing or production environment is a plus. Experience with basic machine troubleshooting and clearing jams is a plus. Willingness to participate in in-depth, one-on-one training over several months. Comfort working in a bilingual facility. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a manufacturing facility with approximately 180 employees on site and over 500 employees across multiple locations. You will work with Special Operations and open-end die-cut machinery in a production environment that requires standing, moving materials, and handling paper products. The facility is bilingual, and employees need to be able to read English for work orders and documentation. The role includes an initial training period on 1st shift, working Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for approximately 4 to 6 months. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and teamwork, with routine machine wash-ups, cleaning duties, and adherence to quality and production standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Butler, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
