General Description and Objectives The Machine Technician II role is built for an experienced machine tech who thrives in a fast-paced converting environment and takes pride in owning machine performance from setup through sustained production. In this position, you will operate, troubleshoot, optimize, and maintain advanced laminator/rewinder equipment, including state-of-the-art rewinders and folders used to produce consumer and industrial tissue products. This role offers the opportunity to apply your mechanical expertise, HMI knowledge, diagnostic skills, and continuous improvement mindset to drive uptime, throughput, quality, and waste reduction. You will work closely with Maintenance and Production to improve reliability, support root cause problem solving, and make a visible impact on plant performance, safety, and operational success. Primary Responsibilities • Help provide leadership, direction, and training as needed to team members. Develop a thorough knowledge of all machines, product technology, processes and document accordingly. Recommend and participate in completion of continuous improvement processes specifically designed to improve processes, productivity, and quality, especially those related to corrective actions. Cross train on different converting machines. Repair and maintain equipment, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications. Safely operate highly technical paper converting rewinders and folders to run quality tissue & towel products to specifications. While following mandatory assigned OBC Guidelines for all equipment, carry out housekeeping, inspections, lubrications, and light maintenance tasks on assigned machines, while working with the Maintenance Team to minimize downtime. Perform shift machine set up's and change overs, includes center lining and fine tuning according to documentation. Trouble-shoot mechanical, and electrical issues with equipment. Accountable for quality assurance and frequent product inspections. Communicate with fellow Machine and Maintenance Technician's, Asset Leads, and Production Supervisors throughout shift: Safety issues Quality issues Production issues Complete production paperwork neatly and accurately Drives continuous improvements by engaging in lean principles for best machine efficiencies. Monitor and control waste. Help with packaging, palletizing, and rework as needed (5S). Keep machine and surrounding area clean and orderly. Other duties as assigned. Job Requirements Must be 18 years old or older. High school diploma, or G.E.D in progress Paper industry, production, and/or machine technician experience preferred. Education in industrial maintenance, machining technology, or related field a plus. Ability to read and understand machine manuals. Proficiency on a PC, including Microsoft Office is a plus. Strong mechanical aptitude. Strong attention to detail and time management. Possess strong problem solving skills and the ability to think outside the box to drive production improvement. Positive attitude with a solid team mentality. Strong work ethic with an exceptional ability to learn and a desire to continuously improve. Ability to communicate effectively in a diverse work environment. Attendance is an essential function of employment and part of the job requirement. Ability to work a flexible schedule when needed. Capable of standing 8-12 hours. Ability to work on projects that require standing for extended periods, using hands/fingers to handle/feel, reaching with hands/arms, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and/or lifting 50 pounds, often in hot environments. Pre-employment drug screening and background check required.
