Description Job Responsibilities Operates presses at maximum efficiency with a minimum of downtime while maintaining an acceptable extruded finish. Changes extrusion dies, follows dispatch work order sequence, uses proper bolster, and supports tooling. Maintains proper exit temperature of metal, using Williamson, probes or thermos devices to monitor. Maintains appropriate records and documentations including production reports, Keyence data, charts, die reports, and supply appropriate samples with lead ends. Sets and maintains temperature controls according to work instructions. Starts equipment at beginning of shift, if not already on; equipment such as presses, water tower, billet heater, and nitrogen unit. Shut down equipment at end of shift if applicable. Performs quality check and monitors drawing dimensions, badge dimensions, wall thickness, angles, flatness and all other dimensions on the drawing. Calculates unspecified tolerances according to standard tolerance chart. Ability to differentiate types of alloys and sizes of billets for operation and completes the Billet Audit sheet accordingly. Monitors extrusion as it is released from press, transfers extruded parts on cooling table leaving appropriate space between lineals. Operates automatic loader to place billet onto billet storage table and into billet furnace. Capable of performing all functions of press crew. Maintains a clean work area, equipment, and supplies in a neat and orderly fashion, 6S standards. Job Skills Requirements Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, route sheets and understand tolerance calculations. Ability to work effectively with tools and equipment such as calipers, micrometers, pins, feeler gauges, squares, protractors, comparators and calculators. Must be able to navigate between business operating systems; Infor, Share Point. Strong understanding of the extrusion processes, capabilities and ability to apply that knowledge. Educational Requirements High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to six months related experience and/or training in much operation; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience Requirements Forklift experience is preferred. Prior work experience in a manufacturing environment desirable. Physical & Environmental Requirements Regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The associate is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to very loud. Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours). Ability to stand and/or walk constantly over a full work shift (8-12 hours). Physical demand often lifts light weight material. Rarely lifting/moving average weight (25-50lbs/11-27 kgs) material.
