The Operator is responsible for running assigned sawmill equipment on a daily basis, keeping production moving, and ensuring lumber meets size and quality standards. This role also supports the team by filling in on other equipment and assisting wherever needed. It requires reliability, versatility, and a strong commitment to safety in sawmill operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Operate assigned equipment as part of daily production Fill in on other saws and equipment as needed to keep production moving Monitor output for size, quality, and consistency; make adjustments as needed Perform routine equipment checks and upkeep; report equipment needs promptly Coordinate with Head Sawyer and Mill Supervisor to meet production goals Uphold safety standards and communicate risks immediately Assist with general production and pallet operations as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
Prior sawmill, manufacturing, or heavy equipment experience preferred Ability to learn and safely operate multiple pieces of equipment Mechanical aptitude and strong safety awareness Dependable attendance and willingness to work where needed Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work in an outdoor or semi-enclosed environment
Pay:
