Machine Operator

About us Custom Metal Specialists LLC is a small custom metal fabrication shop located in Oconto Falls WI specializing various structural projects. We are looking for a detail-oriented machine operator to join our team. As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for operating various cutting machines to cut, shape, and fabricate sheet and structural metal materials. You will need mechanical knowledge and the ability to use multiple machines not limited to plasma, waterjet, saw, beam drilling machine or press. Experience with forklift operation and overhead cranes a must. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to read blueprints, and the capability to follow safety protocols. Previous experience operating cutting machines or similar equipment is preferred. The successful candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.

Job Duties:

Set up machines for proper cutting operation with proper parameters. Select proper cutting programs and fixtures. Operate machines at optimum performance based on cutting requirements. Knowledge of proper gases for specific cutting purposes. Cut proper materials per job specification with attention to detail and accuracy. Complete finishing operations including grinding, polishing, sanding or deburring. Test and inspect surfaces and structure for flaws or defects. Perform all preventative maintenance checks on various machines. Troubleshoot and correct any errors or faults on the machine. Responsible for overall safety, cleanliness and operational efficiency of the equipment. Forklift operation required. Maintain all power and hand tool equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety. Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings. Safety riggings skills to operate all chains and slings for heavy material lifting. Practice good safety, housekeeping and organizational habits. Be self-motivated with the ability to work independently or within a team environment.
