Hours:
7:00am-4:00pm QPS Employment Group is hiring a CNC Set Up Technician for a company in Pewaukee, WI. This is a direct hire opportunity on 1st shift. CNC Set Up Technician Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Set up horizontal CNC lathes using provided setup sheets, job travelers, and engineering drawings
- Select and install appropriate tooling, offsets, and workholding for each job
- Prove out programs and make necessary edits at the machine control to achieve first-article conformance
- Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, gauges, and (ideally) CMMs
- Maintain consistent part quality and production efficiency throughout each run
- Troubleshoot tooling wear, chatter, dimensional drift, and other machining issues
- Document setups, offsets, and process deviations in job travelers and shop records
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Communicate job status, tooling needs, and material concerns with shop leadership
CNC Set Up Technician Requirements:
- 3+ years of CNC setup experience in a precision machining environment involving turning, milling, or both
- Experience machining steel, stainless steel, aluminum, plastics, and exotic alloys
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and tight-tolerance specifications
- Hands-on experience with offsets, tool changes, tooling setup, and machine-side program edits (Fanuc preferred)
- Strong understanding of speeds, feeds, tooling selection, and machining strategies
- Proficiency using precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment
- Experience performing first-piece inspections and in-process quality verification
- Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and manage time effectively
