Job Description
Laser Operator - Weekend 1st
Shift Shift:
Friday - Sunday 6:00am-6:00pm Shift Perks Paid lunch! Work 36 hours, get paid for 40 hours. Overtime available during weekdays, or additional weekend hours. Double time after 44 hours worked. Position Description The Laser Operator programs, sets up, and operates laser cutting equipment to produce parts in accordance with drawings, specifications, and production schedules. The role supports efficient material usage, safe equipment operation, and consistent product quality. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Machine Setup, Operation, Material Handling Set-up and run laser according to programs and preset parameters Review cutting program and select correct raw material Load correct raw material using overhead crane and/or forklift Monitor cutting performance and make appropriate operator level adjustments as required Remove parts from laser table after cutting is complete Assist in other areas of metal prep department as needed Quality Control, Inspection, Finishing Inspect and perform final cleanup of parts as needed Maintain proper documentation required for production and maintenance Ensure parts and finished products meet established quality standards and customer specifications Follow supervisory instructions and carry out assigned tasks in accordance with work procedures Maintenance, Troubleshooting, Equipment Support Perform operator-level maintenance as needed, daily and as scheduled Assist maintenance department with scheduled maintenance/repairs as needed Support safe and proper use of tools, machines, and equipment Performs additional duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills Abilities Required Ability to use measuring equipment, including tape measure, micrometer, square, protractor, etc Ability to hold high quality standards to meet customer specifications Ability to have a safety-focused mindset while performing job duties and functions Able to operate forklifts and hoists safely Preferred Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills Manage multiple tasks in order to meet deadlines with attention to detail Strong ability to be flexible with working hours to allow for occasional overtime Strong problem-solving skills both individually and with others Strong ability to use basic hand and power tools Understand mathematics to verify job requirements and specifications Self-motivation with ability to work without much supervision Strong problem-solving skills both individually and with others Positive attitude and willingness to learn Qualifications Experience High school graduate or GED and at least 1 year of fabrication work experience in a production/manufacturing environment or relevant equivalent experience is required. Individual is also required to have at least 1 year of laser operation experience. Travel None Pay $26.00 per hour Physical Demands and Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk and hear. The employee regularly is required to walk and reach with hands. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee occasionally uses computer keyboards. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee views computer monitor occasionally. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
