Prepress (Prepress Operator)

Job Overview The Prepress Technician is responsible for preparing digital files for plate making and press production, ensuring accuracy, color consistency, and compliance with customer specifications. This position plays a critical role in maintaining print quality, press efficiency, and on‑time delivery in a lithographic printing environment. Responsibilities Review customer supplied digital files for accuracy, completeness, and print readiness Perform preflight checks to identify and correct issues related to fonts, images, bleeds, trim, and color profiles Prepare files for platemaking using industry standard prepress software Output digital proofs and plates according to job specifications Ensure correct imposition, pagination, and trapping as required Make necessary file corrections and adjustments while maintaining version control Communicate with customer service, press operators, and supervisors to resolve file or production issues Maintain organized digital file storage and job documentation Follow established workflows and quality control procedures Assist with press checks and troubleshoot print issues related to prepress setup Maintain a clean, organized, and safe prepress work area Requirements High school diploma or equivalent Prior experience in prepress operations in a commercial or lithographic printing environment preferred Proficiency with prepress software such as Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) Knowledge of file formats (PDF/X, EPS, TIFF, etc.) and print specifications Strong attention to detail and ability to meet production deadlines Basic computer and technical troubleshooting skills __________________________________________________________________________________________ This position is classified as non‑exempt under California law and is eligible for overtime, meal periods, and rest breaks in accordance with the California Labor Code and applicable Industrial Welfare Commission (IWC) Wage Orders.
