Job Description
Injection Molding TechnicianPosition OverviewWe are seeking an Injection Molding Technician to operate, maintain, and optimize our injection molding equipment to produce high-quality plastic parts. The role focuses on machine setup, mold changes, routine maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and hydraulic/electrical issues, and ensuring production meets quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in injection molding and strong mechanical aptitude to support continuous manufacturing operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesSet up, operate, and monitor injection molding machines to meet production schedules and part quality requirements.
Perform mold changes, machine adjustments, and process parameter optimization to achieve consistent part dimensions and material properties.
Conduct preventive maintenance and routine repair of molds, presses, auxiliary equipment, and tooling to minimize downtime.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues on injection molding equipment and coordinate repairs.
Inspect molded parts using calipers, micrometers, and other measurement tools; document findings and implement corrective actions for quality issues.
Maintain accurate production, maintenance, and quality records in the company system; report issues to production supervisors.
Collaborate with engineering and quality teams on root cause analysis, corrective actions, and process improvements to increase yield and reduce scrap.
Adhere to all safety and environmental regulations, participate in safety meetings, and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Train and mentor new operators on machine operation, safe work practices, and quality standards.
QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent; technical training or associate degree in manufacturing, mechanical technology, or a related field is a plus.1+ years of hands-on experience in injection molding operations, mold setup, and machine maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of plastic materials, molding processes, and common defects (e.g., short shots, flash, sink marks) and corrective actions.
Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems on industrial equipment.
Proficient with measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) and able to read basic blueprints and work instructions.
Experience with preventive maintenance programs and use of maintenance tools and equipment.
