Hours:
2nd shift, Monday through Friday
  • 3pm to 11pm
  • Overtime as needed
  • Must train on first shift 7am to 3pm
Summary Of Position:
Maintaining furnace operations during work shift as directed. The essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:
Principal Duties and Functions:
1. Keeping the furnaces producing on schedule and to standard. 2. Monitoring the recovery being generated by material load versus the standard recovery for that particular type of material. 3. Making certain the aluminum sows are weighed and marked properly. 4. Making certain accurate sampling procedures are followed. 5. Sort samples by furnace load run and submit them for analysis. 6. Monitoring stack and fugitive emissions from the plant and notify the Production Supervisor on all problems encounter and assist Production Supervisor with required appropriate paperwork. 7. Dumping aluminum from furnaces into sow molds and furnace skim into proper containers. 8. Oversee the safe and proper operation of all mobile equipment required for furnace operations for his/her crew shift. 9. Enforce all safety rules and regulations as set forth by company policies. 12. Maintain, and complete pass down reporting between shifts. 13 Maintain all required paperwork to ensure it is complete, up-to-date, and accurate 14. Evaluating each load of material to determine estimated recovery, PPD and PPH bringing to the attention of the Production Supervisor and/or Plant Manager if out of expected and established recovery parameters. 15. Follow all directions as may be given by management. (i.e. President, General Manager, Plant Manager, or their Representative.)
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is required to stand on concrete for long periods of time. The employee is also required to walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, and controls, reach above the head with hands and arms, and will climb requiring some balance. The employee must lift and move varying weights. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures of both heat and cold.
Work Environment:
The work environments herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the principal functions and duties of his/her job; (1) While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near open flames, moving machinery and equipment, moving mechanical parts, and in outside weather conditions. (2) Employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat and cold. (3) The noise level in the work environment is usually slight to moderate.
Position Requirements:
1. Ability to work well with management, supervisors, other employees, visitors, and customers. 2. Some administration skills are helpful. 3. Some mechanical aptitude, equipment familiarization, and general math is helpful. 4. Flexible to work different jobs and shifts as needed and Overtime (OT) as required. 5. Occasional moderate to heavy lifting is required. Must have good work history.
