Job Description
Lead Mold Maker responsible for mold maker supervision, injection mold machining, fabrication, repair, preventative maintenance, tooling support, and mold performance troubleshooting. Requirements 5+ years of experience with machine tools, mold design, and mold fabrication Experience machining injection molds Experience fabricating injection mold components Experience repairing injection molds Experience performing preventative maintenance on injection molds Ability to read blueprints Knowledge of part geometry Knowledge of trigonometry Experience operating tool room equipment Experience operating CNC equipment Experience operating milling machines Experience operating lathes Experience operating EDM equipment Experience achieving tight machining tolerances Experience selecting machining equipment based on material type and hardness Experience with mold materials, including H13, stainless steel, S7, and P20 Experience with Microsoft Word Experience with Microsoft Excel Experience with ERP or MRP systems Experience entering work orders into manufacturing systems Experience logging work time to jobs and maintaining records Preferred Skills Technical trade school certification Basic SolidWorks experience Experience leading Mold Makers Experience training Mold Makers Experience with QMS work instructions Experience with 6S practices Experience with CNC functions Experience providing technical input for mold designs, fixtures, and tooling Experience supporting injection molding departments Experience supporting maintenance departments Experience with tooling inventory management Responsibilities Direct and oversee Mold Maker work to meet quality, customer, and delivery requirements Participate in technical interviews for Mold Maker hiring Train Mold Makers on PPE usage, 6S practices, machine safety, CNC functions, and QMS work instructions Schedule staff breaks and lunches to maintain production coverage Assign work based on skill level and job requirements Provide performance input for staff reviews Report shift performance, including downtime, quality defects, labor efficiency, and productivity Ensure work orders are accurately entered in the ERP system Provide technical input for mold designs, fixtures, and tooling Perform Mold Maker duties as needed Collaborate with departments on routing, planning, work instructions, and problem-solving Plan work activities, identify risks, set priorities, and escalate delivery-impacting issues Select machining equipment based on material type and hardness Operate CNC equipment, milling machines, lathes, and EDM equipment Fabricate mold components, including cores, cavities, and ejectors Perform heat treating and grinding for mold components Assemble molds and prepare them for testing Verify mold fit, function, and cooling systems Troubleshoot mold issues and make final performance adjustments Disassemble, repair, and modify molds as needed Support continuous improvement initiatives in mold making processes Maintain tooling inventory Assist with mold cleaning and repairs Provide technical support to molding and maintenance departments Ensure compliance with molding-related procedures and policies
Pay:
