Slitter Operator Job Description We are seeking dedicated Slitter Operators to join our team in Ann Arbor, MI. Despite our small facility, we produce significant value by precisely slitting coils and partnering with major automotive companies. With an influx of new business, we are in growth mode, providing a dynamic and exciting work environment. Responsibilities Promote a safety culture and adhere to all plant safety policies and procedures. Check work orders and select processed material based on weight, alloy, size, and quality. Operate a forklift to transport materials to the production floor or shipping department. Follow packaging instructions and operate hand tools and machines such as automatic banders and shrink wrappers. Identify all slit materials and complete necessary documentation. Group completed coils by work order in designated areas. Maintain a clean and orderly work area. Prepare metal coils by trimming to customer-specified widths and conduct final checks on coil specifications. Essential Skills 1+ year of forklift operation experience (stand up or sit down). Ability to read a tape measure accurately for coil/sheet metal cuts. 1+ year of experience in an industrial environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous slitter experience is a plus. Work Environment Our small warehouse allows visibility of the entire plant floor, though it can be noisy and is not the cleanest environment. The shift runs from 5 am to 1:30 pm, with mandatory overtime until 3:30 pm. Saturdays are optional for additional pay. Paid breaks are provided, and a flexible, relaxed atmosphere is fostered. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ann Arbor, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
