A growing manufacturer in Chesterfield, MI is hiring a skilled Mold Maker to build tools, dies, and proto@type molds, working closely with programmers every day. Injection molding experience is a big plus, especially in plastics or medical device manufacturing. What you'll do: Plan the sequence of operations for building tools and dies from blueprints Fit and assemble gauges and metal-forming equipment with hand tools Build proto@type molds from aluminum, bronze, and other materials Complete dies by promised dates and produce samples to customer specs Coordinate daily with programmers to finish projects What you bring: Broad machining knowledge, shop math, and blueprint reading Understanding of how common metals and alloys machine (hardness, heat tolerance) Mechanical aptitude and independent problem solving High school or vocational education with math, blueprint reading, metalworking, or drafting Injection molding machine experience preferred Working conditions: Noisy shop, PPE required, standing about half the day with some moderately heavy lifting, and extended hours are common.
