Grand Rapids, Michigan Full-time | 40+ hours per week MPD Welding is looking for a dependable, hands-on employee to join our team as a CDL Class B Driver / Furnace Operator Trainee . This is not an over-the-road driving position. Our drivers primarily make local and regional pickups and deliveries for customers in the tool-and-die, mold, and manufacturing industries. When not driving, this position will assist with loading and unloading trucks, moving large tooling and weldments, and working in our furnace department. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working in an industrial environment, takes care of equipment, and can be counted on to get the job done safely and professionally. Responsibilities Make local and regional customer pickups and deliveries Safely operate company trucks requiring a Class B CDL Load and unload dies, molds, tooling, weldments, and other heavy industrial components Secure loads properly for transportation Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment Assist with loading and unloading industrial furnaces Train to operate our stress-relieving and normalizing furnaces Complete delivery paperwork and communicate with customers and the MPD office Help with general shop duties when not driving Maintain a clean and safe work area Perform basic inspections of trucks and equipment and report maintenance concerns Qualifications Valid Class B CDL required Good driving record Ability to safely operate a forklift or willingness to be trained Comfortable working around large, heavy industrial equipment Able to perform physical work including climbing, lifting, securing loads, and working around trucks and furnaces Dependable attendance and punctuality Good judgment and a strong commitment to safety Able to work independently while also being part of a small team Previous manufacturing, tool-and-die, welding, trucking, rigging, or industrial experience is helpful but not required Schedule This is a full-time, first-shift position , generally 40 or more hours per week. Some overtime may be required depending on customer and production needs. Most driving is local or regional, allowing the employee to return home at the end of the workday.
