Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K AHF Products has a job opportunity for a Grader/Sawyer/Nester on 3rd. Shift to be located in West Plains, MO. This position inspects and grades milled flooring lumber. Operates single blade circular saws to cut wood lumber to specified lengths and places unfinished pieces into nesting jigs.

JOB DUTIES

Places material to be cut on saw feed table and positions work piece against back stop, synchronizing action with foot pedal-controlled ascending blade and cuts wood, while maintaining production pace. Examines material prior to cutting to determine what cuts will remove defects and products maximum usable footage. Visually detect small defects in wood strips at a rapid pace. Must be able to cut a minimum of 16 boards per minute. Determine whether or not a board requires putty and properly putty defects with wood filler/wood putty using putty knife or squeeze bottle. Rotates fully loaded nesting jigs. Perform any other duties assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to accurately read gauges and tape measure to enable correct separation of wood into different conveyors. Score 90% or better on knot saw test within 5 working days of hire. Must be able to maintain score of 90% or better on grade test rules within 60 days of hire. Follow Job Safety Analysis guidelines to assure safe operations. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Good hand-eye coordination desirable.

PHYSCIAL DEMANDS

Regularly works in a tight 30" x 30" workspace for long periods of time and twists/turns. Regularly reaches up to 30" across when picking up boards from the delivery belt. Regularly required to stand and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to walk and talk or hear. Frequently lift and carry several boards 2.25", 3.25", 5" wide up to 7' long weighting approximately 9 pounds each. Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Continual specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Continually must be able to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment. Continually work near moving mechanical parts. Continually must be able to work in moderate noise, up to 83 decibels.
