Job Description

Position:
Reports to: Job description Injection Molding Tool Maker Technical Manager Non-Exempt, Hourly Job Summary The Tool Maker will be instrumental in ensuring our long-lasting molds, this is the core of who we are and is the foundation upon which our production facilities rely to deliver the high-quality parts we are known for in the industry. Our production expertise ranges from critical tolerance engineered components to a standard fitting line. Responsibilities and Duties
  • Build molds, fixtures or related tools and complete tooling repairs and revisions.
  • Setup and operate toolroom equipment needed to build, repair, revise and service molds, fixtures and related tools in a correct and timely manner.
  • Proficient at programming, setting-up and operating CNC machine tools.
  • Ensure projects are completed within the quoted time and material limits.
  • Plan and lay out work from CAD models and drawings.
  • Design and create CAD models or drawings for mold components and related tools as needed.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical mold problems.
  • Prepare tooling components for outside vendor services.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on tools and dies per written guidelines and/or from work orders.
  • Complete disassembly of tools and dies, replaces O-rings, wear parts, inserts etc.
  • Performs last part inspections of molded parts to determine and suggest applicable repairs.
  • Troubleshoots, maintains and repairs hot runner systems, wire plugs etc. per written standards.
  • Safe operation of lifting equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, gantries etc.
  • Uses basic shop tools (hand tools, drills, lathes and milling machine)
  • Uses specific mold making tools for minor tool repairs (micro welder, surface grinder, polishers, profilers etc.)
  • Ability to perform and diagnose hydraulic leaks and repairs/replaces components as necessary.
  • General Knowledge of Electrical, Pneumatic and Hydraulic Blue-print Schematic Reading
  • Consults with other Employees/Managers to identify and resolve all molding maintenance issues in a timely manner
  • Maintains 5S environment in work area and Tool Shop
  • Follows lock out tag out procedures and all other safety rules where required
  • Confer with technical and supervisory personnel to report or resolve conditions affecting safety, efficiency, or product quality.
  • Communicate information to supervisors, co-workers, and technicians as required
  • Documents all maintenance activities/repairs in PM Program (MaintMaster)
  • Performs other task and assignments as assigned by Manager. Physical Demands/Requirements
  • Must be able to stand, stoop, reach, grasp, sit or stand for long periods of time, and lift up to a maximum of 50 lbs. safely.
  • Ability to spend 90% of the workday walking or standing
  • Noise level in materials area at times can be loud.
  • Must be willing and able to abide by all safety policies.
  • Willing to travel when needed.
  • Full-time day shift, overtime as needed. Possible weekend/holiday work.
  • Non-climate-controlled plant environment; standard hazards within a manufacturing plant where safety precautions and personal protective equipment must be maintained at all times. Qualifications/Skills
  • Experience with mold design is a plus.
  • Must be a trade school graduate in toolmaking/machining technology or possess 5 years CNC programming and machining experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in plastic injection mold making.
  • Must be proficient in CNC mill programming from solid CAD models.
  • Must possess the ability to work independently and as a team member to achieve common goals.
  • Strong tool and die maintenance background.
  • Mold-making background is a plus.
  • Judgment and decision-making skills, time management, critical thinking.
  • Coachable and teachable.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic knowledge of electronics, hydraulics, and pneumatics applicable to the industry.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform cavity and core changeovers, maintenance of all mold tooling in the department.
  • Must meet company forklift certification.
  • Adheres to all company policies.
Pay:
$28.38 - $34.18 per hour
