Job Description

The Molding Technician runs and supports our automated plastic injection molding cells. This role sets up and starts equipment, keeps machines running safely and on target, checks quality, and documents production so we can deliver good parts on time. Responsibilities Machine Setup & Start-Up Set up and start vertical injection molding machines and related equipment (robots, feeders, vision systems, capping stations). Complete prestart safety checks on guards, interlocks, emergency stops, and hot surfaces. Follow standard procedures for startup and shutdown of presses, robots, and support equipment. Changeovers & Adjustments Change molds, materials, and endofarm tooling as needed. Check alignment, clamp molds correctly, and verify connections for temperature control units and other auxiliaries. Make routine adjustments to keep the process stable (temperatures, pressures, cycle time, etc.). Quality & Documentation Perform regular inprocess inspections using basic measuring tools (calipers, microscopes, gauges). Record measurements and part checks on the required forms and in the computer system (NetSuite). Hold and report any nonconforming product immediately and follow standard reaction plans. Automation & Troubleshooting Operate robots at an operator level (home, jog, point verification) and verify safe operation. Monitor bowl feeders, vision systems, and capping stations to keep parts feeding and assembling correctly. Respond to alarms and minor faults: clear jams, reset equipment, and replace simple wear items as trained. Escalate issues to maintenance, quality, or leadership when problems go beyond operator level. Material Handling Follow proper material drying and handling procedures for plastic resins. Ensure correct material and component lot numbers are used and recorded. Safety & Compliance Follow all safety rules, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and PPE requirements. Use "stoptheline" authority for any safety or quality concern. Support ISO 9001 and company training requirements by following work instructions and documenting work correctly. Teamwork & Communication Work closely with fellow technicians, operators, quality, maintenance, and engineering. Communicate clearly about issues, shift handoffs, and any changes made to the process. Requirements Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required. Previous experience in plastic injection molding or a similar manufacturing environment preferred. Formal molding training (RJG, Paulson, or similar) is a plus. Skills & Abilities Comfortable working with production machinery and basic automation. Able to set up machines, perform changeovers, and complete firstpiece and inprocess checks. Able to read and follow work instructions, basic drawings, and quality standards. Basic computer skills for data entry and simple reports (e.g., NetSuite, Microsoft Office). Strong mechanical aptitude and problemsolving skills. High attention to detail and accuracy in quality checks and recordkeeping. Able to work independently and in a team in a fastpaced, shiftbased environment. Clear verbal and written communication. Must pass a background screen. Physical Requirements Able to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for up to 12 hours. Able to lift up to 50 pounds. Good vision for reading instructions, operating equipment, and inspecting small parts. Rewards Competitive pay for skilled manufacturing work in a growing company. Stable schedule in a climatecontrolled, modern production environment. Training and development on injection molding, automation, and quality systems. Opportunities to grow into higherlevel technical or leadership roles as skills increase. Safetyfocused culture where you have the authority to stop the line for safety or quality concerns. Team environment where your ideas to improve quality, uptime, and safety are encouraged and valued.
