77041 Role Objective We are seeking a highly skilled Slitter/Rewinder Operator with a strong mechanical background to manage the precision conversion of PTFE Jumbo rolls into finished narrow-web products. This role requires a technical expert who understands the physics of web handling—specifically the delicate balance of maintaining consistent tension across multiple lanes—to ensure zero-defect output for our clients. Key Responsibilities 1.
Complex Machine Setup & Mechanical Calibration Blade Precision:
Perform intricate setups on slitting machinery, including the precise positioning of shear, razor, or score blades.
Mechanical Maintenance:
Utilize your mechanical background to perform routine maintenance, blade sharpening/replacement, and minor repairs to avoid downtime.
Lane Synchronization:
Synchronize multiple rewind shafts to ensure uniform winding across all lanes, regardless of material variations.
PTFE Specifics:
Slit Jumbo rolls of PTFE tape to desired widths following standard operating procedures (SOPs). 2.
Precision Measurement & Quality Control Technical Accuracy:
Execute setups based on technical blueprints, verbal instructions, and written work orders with a high degree of accuracy.
Tool Proficiency:
Use precision tools (micrometers, calipers, and gauges) to verify slit widths within strict tolerances (e.g., +/- 0.010").
Defect Monitoring:
Continuously monitor material for defects such as "telescoping," "starring," or edge weave; report any discrepancies to the supervisor immediately.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate daily production reports and quality records. 3.
Advanced Web Handling Web Guiding Systems:
Calibrate and monitor ultrasonic or optical edge/line guiding systems to ensure the material remains centered through the slitting station.
Tension Management:
Manually and digitally adjust unwind and rewind tension profiles to prevent stretching, breaking, or wrinkling of delicate substrates across multiple lanes.
Static Control:
Manage static elimination bars to ensure safe handling of materials. 4.
Physical Operations & Material Logistics Loading/Unloading:
Efficiently load raw material onto unwind mandrels and strip finished rolls from rewind shafts.
Stamina:
Comfortably stand for the duration of an 8-12 hour shift in a fast-paced production environment.
Facility Care:
Ensure assigned equipment is maintained in good operating condition; keep aisles and work areas clean and free of safety hazards.
Required Qualifications & Skills Education:
Accredited High School diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
Minimum [X] years of experience operating slitter/rewinder machinery (e.g., Kampf, Atlas, Dusenbery, or similar).
Mechanical Aptitude:
Proven ability to troubleshoot mechanical timing issues, pneumatic systems, and hydraulic lifts.
Technical Literacy:
Ability to read and interpret complex work orders, schematics, and blueprints.
Mathematical Proficiency:
Strong grasp of fractions, decimals, and metric-to-imperial conversions. Attention to
Detail:
A "quality-first" mindset with the ability to spot minute inconsistencies in high-speed web movement.
Physical Requirements Lifting:
Maneuver master rolls and finished products weighing up to 50 lbs regularly, utilizing hoists or pallet jacks for heavier loads. Must be able to lift/move 35 lbs frequently throughout the workday.
Manual Dexterity:
Regularly required to use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls; ability to reach overhead.
Range of Motion:
Ability to work in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods of time. Work Environment Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels (hearing protection provided). Must be comfortable working around high-speed rotating equipment and sharp tooling. Adherence to strict Safety/PPE protocols (Steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and LOTO procedures) is non-negotiable.
