GED DOT Physical Certification Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Concrete Mixer Driver is responsible for safely operating ready-mix and related commercial vehicles to transport and deliver concrete and aggregate materials to job sites. This role ensures quality product delivery, proper truck maintenance, regulatory compliance, and exceptional customer service while supporting daily operational needs. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong safety awareness, reliability, professionalism, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate trucks equipped with auxiliary concrete mixers to deliver concrete mix to job sites safely and efficiently Add enhanced supplies to concrete mixes as needed, including fibers, accelerators, color additives, and other materials Adjust moisture levels to contractor specifications and document all changes, weather conditions, and environmental factors on load tickets for quality assurance purposes Ensure concrete arrives at each delivery location with the proper slump and consistency Assemble and operate cement chutes as needed during deliveries Safely release concrete down chutes into pumps, wheelbarrows, or designated pour locations Prevent concrete from hardening in mixer drums through proper cleaning procedures, including use of water hoses, chute scrapers, and protective compounds Clean and maintain assigned truck, including daily housekeeping of the cab and work areas Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report maintenance or repair needs to Fleet Maintenance and/or Management teams Ensure proper operation and use of truck tracking software and report malfunctions promptly Maintain required documentation, permits, and information within truck cab at all times Maneuver truck safely under loading hoppers and ensure materials are loaded properly with minimal waste Operate a variety of trucks including ready-mix, septic, block, and aggregate material trucks Read and follow dispatch directions accurately to deliver products to assigned locations Establish and maintain professional communication with customers on job sites and secure signatures on invoices and delivery tickets Consistently meet customer delivery expectations while maintaining safety and quality standards Complete and submit accurate daily timecards, delivery tickets, and required paperwork Maintain awareness of surroundings and traffic conditions to ensure safe operation at all times Additional duties as required or assigned.Qualifications and Skills:
- This position requires timely and regular attendance and flexibility to work day/evening shifts, including weekends and occasional overtime as business needs require.
- Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, EPA, DNR, and MSHA regulations
- Federal, state, and local environmental and safety compliance laws and regulations
- Safe operation of concrete mixer and related commercial vehicles
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Strong work ethic with reliable attendance
- Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to maneuver safely in and out of trucks and around job sites
- Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision
- Ability to maintain professionalism and provide excellent customer service
- Ability to learn and demonstrate competency in required regulations, procedures, and training programs
- Ability to recognize hazards and maintain traffic and job site awareness
- Ability to complete required paperwork accurately and timely
Education, Licensing, and Experience:
- Valid, clean, and active CDL Class B driver's license or higher required
- Current Medical DOT Card required
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 3 years of CDL Class B or higher driving experience required
- Strong preference given to candidates with Ready-Mix driving experience
- Must pass criminal background check, pre-employment drug test, DOT physical, and functional exam
- Must meet insurability standards required by company fleet insurance carrier
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to climb, bend, stoop, reach, and lift as required during daily operations
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods
- Ability to safely operate heavy commercial vehicles and related equipment
