Join our Industrial Gas Turbine (IGT) team in Hampton, VA and keep the heart of advanced manufacturing running. Your day, your impact On the 2nd shift (Mon-Fri, 3pm-11pm) or 3rd shift (Mon-Fri, 11pm-7am), you'll be the go-to expert who keeps complex production assets and facilities humming. You'll train on 1st shift (Mon-Fri, 7am-3pm), then move onto your assigned off-shift with a $1.00/hr premium.
New hire starting rate:
$41.70/hr. What you'll tackle Own equipment uptime: plan and perform preventive maintenance across motors, pneumatics, conveyors, and production machinery using manuals, drawings, specs, and your troubleshooting toolkit. Diagnose with precision:
track down faults through observation and precision instruments; verify electrical characteristics (voltage, current, resistance, capacitance) on 120Vac controls and 480Vac power systems. Repair and rebuild:
dismantle and reassemble equipment using hoists, cranes, and power/hand tools; evaluate wear/fit; replace bearings; rewire motors; swap relays, switches, sensors, printed circuit boards, and lighting components. Mechanical mastery:
restore hydraulic/pneumatic systems; install and maintain pipework; service gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related hardware. Fabricate and weld:
machine parts to spec using calipers, micrometers, and shop equipment; cut and join metals with torch and welding processes. Electrical installs:
plan layouts; run conduit; pull and terminate field wiring; connect machines to power; integrate equipment-to-equipment cabling. Layout and alignment:
set, level, and align components with levels, plumb bobs, straightedges; read basic blueprints to position and install assets. Rigging and relocation:
rig equipment for installation/moves safely and efficiently; operate an industrial forklift. Automation savvy:
apply working knowledge of PLCs and robotic machinery during troubleshooting and repair. Safety and stewardship:
maintain a clean, compliant work area; conserve parts and supplies; keep inventories current; order and verify materials. Documentation and teamwork:
produce clear maintenance reports; log actions and irregularities; share learnings to maintain continuity across shifts; communicate effectively with maintenance leadership, production leaders, and operators. Keep growing:

Certification in mechanical, electrical, or multi-craft apprenticeship. 5-7 years of industrial electro-mechanical experience. Hands-on background with pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical, water systems, PLCs, welding, and analytical troubleshooting. Mobile equipment training/certification; ability to operate an industrial forklift. Comfort working at heights up to 50 feet. Proficient with calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools. Read and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and basic blueprints; write routine reports; speak effectively to groups. Strong math skills (fractions/percentages, area/circumference/volume, basic algebra/geometry). Problem-solving ability with non-standard situations; interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule-based instructions. Availability for all shifts; overtime and weekend work as needed based on operations. Compensation & schedule Starting rate: $41.70 per hour. Off-shift premium:
+$1.00 per hour. Shifts available:
2nd (M-F 3pm-11pm) and 3rd (M-F 11pm-7am). Training:
