Job Title:
Molding Machine Operator Job Description The Molding Machine Operator supports daily molding and casting operations by setting up molds, running molding equipment, and ensuring parts are produced to quality standards. This role is ideal for individuals with hands-on experience in injection molding or ceramic casting, who understand basic mold setup, can troubleshoot common defects, and can perform routine mold and die maintenance to keep production running smoothly. Responsibilities Set up molds, dies, and tooling for injection molding or ceramic casting production. Operate molding machines, monitor cycle times, and adjust basic parameters as needed. Identify and troubleshoot common molding issues such as short shots, flashing, incomplete fill, or surface defects. Perform routine mold and die maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor adjustments. Inspect molded parts for dimensional accuracy, surface quality, and consistency. Document production runs, mold changes, and process adjustments. Communicate equipment issues or material concerns to supervisors or maintenance teams. Essential Skills Experience in injection molding, ceramic casting, or similar molding processes. Familiarity with mold setup, alignment, and clamping procedures. Ability to recognize and troubleshoot molding defects. Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort performing minor mold/die maintenance. Ability to read work instructions, production specs, and basic technical drawings. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts. Ability to lift 30-50 lbs and work in a fast-paced production environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with machine operation, blow molding, and extrusion. Proficiency in change over procedures and mechanical aptitude. Familiarity with production line operations. Why Work Here? Work Environment Work the 2nd shift from 3pm to 11:15am in a non-climate-controlled production facility where temperatures can become very hot during the summer months. The environment is fast-paced and hands-on, with polymer molding and hydraulic/pneumatic crimping equipment. Employees are allowed to keep water at their workstation to stay hydrated throughout the shift. It is a structured, team-oriented setting with defined workstations and established safety procedures. Enjoy a consistent full-time schedule with opportunities for overtime based on production demand. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Virginia Beach, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
