What You'll Do Perform equipment inspections, preventative maintenance, equipment repairs and troubleshooting equipment problems in an accurate and efficient manner Cleans and prepares slide gates, furnaces, roofs, ladles, tundishes, covers, forms, etc for repair and relining and fabrication Coordinate with melting area and other departments to minimize downtime and breakdowns to maximize production of quality products Operate mobile equipment such as Forklifts, overhead cranes, etc Assist maintenance personnel when requested/needed Ensure equipment inspection reports are filled out each shift Understand start up, shutdown, and emergency procedures What You'll Need Familiarity with steel mill operations in a Melt Shop preferred Possess proficient skills utilizing hand tools, power tools and precision tools for performing all facets of the repair and maintenance process Ability to work outside of a normal day shift required as necessary (to include early morning and evenings when needed to support a 24/7 operation) Ability to work with exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment with strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skills Demonstrates dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs Must be able to learn quickly and multitask Basic computer skills Your Education High School Diploma or GED required We are CMC, a Fortune 500® company at the leading edge of our industry.
