Job Description

About the Role The Process Specialist provides expert level operational and technical support and guidance on all aspects of production, including reliability, quality, costs and compliance to process safety and environmental requirements. They oversee the daily production activities for plant process units and works closely with others to define operation problems and promote solutions. This is a salaried exempt, day shift position. It is classified as a Safety Critical role.
Key job responsibilities include:
Work with operators and other functional groups to optimize plant operations and drive continuous improvement consistent with Unit goals and Company strategy Track performance vs target, investigate deviations and implement solutions in a timely manner Shares technical knowledge with operations technicians and Shift Supervisors through coaching and dialog to help strengthen the skills/knowledge of the organization Assists in the definition and solution of operating problems and supports optimization and continuous improvement of production equipment and operating processes Monitor production quality and equipment and process utilization and reliability; identifies problem areas, initiates corrective actions and recommends and makes on-going improvements Participate in the development of medium-term production strategies and plans. Manage process improvement projects Provide coaching and supports knowledge and skills development for operations and plant support staff Oversee main work processes for efficiency and effectiveness such as quality monitoring, environmental compliance, safety, Maintenance Work Plan, etc. Ensure operations procedures, instructions, and PCPs are accurate, up-to-date and reviewed as required Foster and maintain effective communication with the other units, departments, distribution, and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) Utilize high level of practical production and process knowledge to provide day-to-day support of plant operation including leaving detailed instructions for off shifts and weekends Investigate reasons for downtime/failures, assist in the identification of root causes and development/implementation of technical solutions Work closely with the Shift Supervisor to implement the day-to-day plan Provide raw materials logistics and production quantities management Other duties as assigned About You You should possess: High school diploma or equivalent Possess a minimum of ten (10) years of related operations experience in a manufacturing environment Possess and demonstrate a thorough technical understanding of plant chemical processes and unit operations (technical process expert) Strong leadership and interpersonal skills are required due to the frequent interaction with department personnel and other functional groups Thorough working knowledge of safety, environmental and emergency response requirements Working knowledge of chemical/industrial equipment function, design, and regulatory requirements and Process Safety Management and ISO systems and procedures Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written Functionality with various computer programs, specifically Microsoft Office Suite and SAP Six Sigma training a plus Schedule/Hours This is a salaried exempt, typically a day shift position.
