As an HDD Operator/Locator, you will be essential in executing horizontal drilling operations on construction sites, reporting to the Site Supervisor. Your core skills in excavator and heavy equipment operation will ensure efficient project execution. With premium skills in mechanical knowledge and commercial driving, you will navigate various equipment, including mini excavators, skid steers, hydro vac, reel trailers, and trucks. Your relevant experience in construction and familiarity with machinery will enhance your effectiveness in this role. • Read specifications, such as blueprints, to determine job site requirements and plan procedures.
• Locate, measure, and mark site locations for the job, using measuring and marking equipment.
• Order any needed supplies, including PPE. Ensure PPE is on all job sites and used appropriately for the job.
• Arrange for repairs of equipment or machinery through the Director of Operations. Attempt to repair equipment or machinery if possible.
• Continually assess job sites - communicate any hazards, job site problems, or other issues to the respective party including the Superintendent, Safety Manager, or otherwise.
• Report all vehicle incidents/accidents and injuries to the Director of Operations or HR. Complete any required incident or injury forms within 24 hours of the incident and provide them to the HR manager.
• Inspect or review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, and environmental or other regulations.
• Assist construction crew on the job site with manual labor as needed to ensure the job is completed on time with a quality finished product Qualifications
• Proven experience operating heavy equipment, including mini excavators and Vermeer drills and Hydro Vacs.
• Strong mechanical knowledge and skills in commercial driving.
• Familiarity with construction site operations and safety protocols.
• Knowledge of horizontal drilling techniques and mix system/water truck operation.
• Ability to work effectively in various construction environments Experience
• Underground utilities: 5 years (Preferred)
• Blueprint reading and specifications: 5 years (Preferred)

Horizontal Directional Drilling & Locating:

5 years (Preferred) Additional Qualifications

• You must be able to lift, push, and pull heavy weights of more than 50 pounds.
• You must be able to walk up or down hilly terrain and be able to work outside in all-weather elements.
• You may be required to stand for several hours at one time without rest.
