Education :

Graduation form High School or G.E.D. certificate.

Experience:

Two (2) years experience in District operations as well as extensive use of the written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge and Abilities Must obtain a thorough knowledge of District operations in regards to water deliveries, water ordering, distribution systems operations, emergency procedures, organizational policies, farm irrigation procedures. Discuss, interpret , and handle water user inquiries, effectively communicate ideas, policies, and procedures both orally and in writing. Analyze emergency situations quickly and accurately and take effective actions; write reports; establish and maintain effective cooperative relationships with water users and others. Maintain a willingness to work irregular hours in the event of emergency, and work with a minimum of supervision. Function as a utility man, capable of covering a variety of task on an as need basis. Be accurate, thorough, neat and able to meet schedules and deadlines. Physical Abilities The employee must be able to climb or balance stationary ladder up to and including 100 feet in height Must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds (i.e. sandbags, valves,pipes,etc.). Must be able to bend,stoop,kneel and occasionally crouch or crawl in confined spaces. Must regularly drive a District vehicle and occasionally walk on uneven or wet or slippery ground including ground which may contain a few easily available obstacles. Perform physical work in all kinds of weather. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision,distance vision, and dept perception. A job related physical exam and drug testing is mandatory as well as a valid, Class C California Driver's License and acceptable DMV record. Working Conditions None-Exempt Employee Hours - 12 hour shifts (nights), 1730 hours to 0600 hours, (includes 30 minutes for lunch) be willing to work up to 10 consecutive days. May be requires to work unscheduled "call outs" and "overtime" as the District's needs may require.
