Job Description
Job Title:
Security Specialist- Illicit Material Interdiction (NWS 00885) North Wind Services is actively seeking individuals who can contribute to national security within the science, technology, and engineering fields as part of our supplemental labor team at vital federal research and development installations supporting the Department of Energy.
- Provide expertise and creative solutions to LLNL scientists and managers to address sponsor needs during preparation for upcoming large public events which require enhanced security due to global significance, i.e., FIFA World Cup and the Olympic games.
- Provide expertise as a member of an interdisciplinary team, along with LLNL managers, to support a composite team of government and contracted experts addressing complex, often broadly defined, facets of WMD interdiction tailored to specific levels of state, local, tribal, territorial, and federal government jurisdictions.
- Help inform, design, plan, and conduct realistic exercises to facilitate the training of an array of state, local, and Federal staff to screen for and detect potential WMD threats.
- Document planning, logistics, and event details as well as capture observations and insights in after-action reporting.
- Provide expertise to LLNL scientists and managers on Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) requirements linked to exercises and training in the mission of countering weapons of mass destruction related to LLNL tasks and deliverables.
- Support the creation, review, and finalization of various exercise-specific HSEEP documents.
- Maintain high quality standards for tasks and deliverables; especially while under pressure or under less-than-ideal conditions.
- Maintain required security and discretion in classified environments
- Perform additional job duties as assigned. Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience, in a field relevant to law enforcement and the interdiction of illicit technical threats.
- At least ten years of firsthand experience as law enforcement with at least five years in the WMD interdiction mission space.
- Extensive firsthand experience supporting the Federal WMD adjudication and response system, e.g., programs run by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the National Nuclear Security Administration.
- Formal training in explosive ordnance disposal.
- Experience with technical equipment or methods for detecting and identifying signatures linked to potential WMD threats.
- Knowledge and experience supporting the requirements of the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program.
- Skilled at explaining complex technical concepts to non-expert audiences, both verbally and in writing.
