Georgia Power is looking for skilled individuals for a B operator position at North Ga Hydro located in Clarkesville, Ga. JOB SUMMARY
The B operator position is an entry level position in the Hydro Plant Operations that is responsible for continuous inspection, monitoring, and troubleshooting of industrial type Hydro equipment to ensure reliable and efficient operation. B's also perform routine operations tasks including: Collecting and documenting readings Controlling operation of Hydro plant equipment Initiating work orders to address equipment issues. Minor servicing equipment such as adding oil or changing filters. Performing equipment isolation and alignments (electrical and mechanical) Performing housekeeping activities to keep plants in a tour ready condition. Perform weekly FERC required Dam inspections. In performing these tasks, B's must: Brief shift personnel on the status of the work and any information pertinent to the safe and efficient operation of equipment Assist other personnel including mechanical and electrical maintenance. Follow safety rules, regulations and procedures. In order to retain employment B's must pass onsite training program and qualification exam. This job is subject to the provisions of Paragraph 46 of the Memorandum of Agreement between GPC and IBEW Local Union No. 84.JOB REQUIREMENTS

Practice Test. Even if you are already test qualified, you must re-apply. Pass a drug test and background investigation. Qualify on a Post Offer Employment (Physical Agility) Test Education & Experience Requirements High school diploma or GED preferred. Technical Degree (Diploma or Certificate) a plus. Previous work experience (full-time or part-time) preferred but not required. Previous work experience in power plant, manufacturing, industrial, commercial, warehousing, construction or other safety related setting preferred but not required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles Knowledge of hand tools Math calculation skills Basic computer skills Ability to read, understand and follow technical procedures, rules and regulations Ability to read and interpret tables, graphs, and piping diagrams Ability to take measurements using gauges, digital meters, and other instruments. Ability to work with and support team-oriented work groups Open two-way communication skills.
