Thiele Kaolin Company 520 Kaolin Road Sandersville, Georgia 31082 478-552-3951 Employment Opportunity Evaporator Operator Thiele Kaolin Company, a leading provider of tailored mineral solutions, is currently recruiting for an Evaporator Operator. This position is located in Deepstep, Georgia.
MAJOR DUTIES
  • Start up and shut down #'s 1, 2, and 3 Evaporators
  • Start up and shut down associated vacuum pumps and boilers
  • Maintain temperature profile according to product solids and tonnage rates
  • Do buildings and area walk throughs and inspect equipment for proper operation i.e. spills unusual noise etc.
  • Knowledge of #'s 1, 2, and 3 Evaporators operating equipment
  • Catch required samples for lab testing
  • Maintain solids and pH profile according to test results
  • Knowledge of and can monitor S tanks and S tank manifold
  • Knowledge of grades of clay
  • Knowledge of chemicals and chemical tanks and how to adjust doses
  • Monitor equipment on computer screens
  • Monitor pumps, chemical levels, tonnage rates, water flows,
  • Knowledge of how to make up chemicals
  • Measure tanks and record information
  • Record on daily sheets and enter required information into Plant Data
  • Ability to start up and shut down conveying, chemical, pumps and associated equipment
  • Ability to set up and operate blend systems
  • Notify supervisor of any problems and have resolved in a timely manner
  • Change grades of clay from tanks and going into out bound equipment as directed by supervisor or communication sheet
  • Complete shift line up and loading schedule
  • Wash out lines as needed to keep at optimum performance
  • Clean any type of feed baskets, screens, or socks as needed
  • Inspect screens and request changes as needed
  • Manage or direct Evaporator helpers
  • Ensure Evaporator helpers are in compliance with Thiele's safety policies
SKILL REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Know Quality Policy, in process product specifications, how to access white and message boards, Thiele's basic safety rules, how to access and use SDS system, how to access and use Plant Data, Site Specific Hazard Awareness, tag and lockout procedures, confined space procedures, how to use hand tools, quality goals and objectives and how your job affects this
  • Attend any required MSHA training; attend any required Thiele training
  • Work with little or no supervision and work well with others
  • Train on next job level
  • Understand MSHA rules and regulations, perform good housekeeping, wear and use proper PPE, perform work place inspections and pre-shift inspections (mobile equipment) Thiele offers excellent pay and a comprehensive fringe benefits package.
