2397 - Power Plant Operator Power Plant Operator Central Power Plant Search 2397 - Posted June 18, 2026 Emporia State University is seeking applicants for a Power Plant Operator position with our Physical Plant team. As a Power Plant Operator, you will perform routine maintenance on various powerhouse systems, monitor automation control systems regulating building heating and cooling, operate high pressure steam boilers, and analyze discharge water tests. This positions work schedule will be 4:00pm to 12:00pm with days to be determined
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform routine lubrication, cleaning, and rebuilding powerhouse instrument piping for steam, oil, water, air, and gas lines Record daily boiler logbook, record daily usage of steam, fuel oil and natural gas Monitor the campus building automation controls (STAEFA) that regulates heating and cooling Maintain high pressure boilers
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a High School Diploma or GED At least two years of experience in a power plant or similar environment Relevant safety training is required Physical Requirements Ability to lift 50 pounds frequently Standing or walking for 7 or more hours per shift Movements that require manual dexterity, trunk strength, wrist-finger movement, twisting, bending, pushing, and pulling.
COMPENSATION
Compensation will be negotiable based upon education & experience
